Yaavarum Publishers is a Chennai-based publishing house that began in January 2012, founded by a group of like-minded friends in the literary circle, including Jeeva Karikalan (Kalidasan J) and Kannadasan T, who later focused on its core publishing efforts.
The name Yaavarum is inspired by the famous words of Sangam-era poet Kaniyan Poongundranar, whose saying, “Everyone is kin to each other,” echoes a timeless message of unity, even recognized by the United Nations.
Since 2013, Yaavarum Publishers has been at the forefront of contemporary Tamil literature, providing a platform for fresh voices and launching the careers of over 75 authors. Founded by Jeeva Karikalan, also known as Kalidasan, who began his journey as a subeditor at the prestigious Kanaiyazhi (a literary journal with a 50-year legacy), Yaavarum started as a forum for literary discussions among like-minded individuals and has since grown into a well-respected publishing house.
